Class Notes 10/27

Today in class we went over the packets that you completed while I was away and then continued to go over more example involving equations with fractions and word problems.

There will be a quiz on Thursday (10/29) dealing with equations with variables on both sides, variables with fractions and word problems. Make sure you are ready for the quiz. If you have questions come talk to me, or have them prepared for the start of class.

Monday, October 19, 2015

Class Notes 10/19

Today in class we practiced problems dealing with variables in all different parts of equations and trying to solve for said variable. We then started a worksheet asking for each of you to write a mathematical expression from a word problem and then solving for the unknown.

For Homework Due 10/21: Finish the worksheet you started in class.

I apologize for the delay in updating the classes page.

The homework due tomorrow for anyone that is wondering is to finish the worksheet that was handed out in class on Thursday.

See everyone tomorrow.

Class Notes 10/13

Today in class we worked more with equations that have multiple unkowns (variables) and the methods we take in order to rewrite an equation so we can isolate one variable and solve for that variable. It's tough work, when there aren't numbers involved but its important to remember that we can treat each variable as if it were a number. The same operations that we use with numbers apply to the variables we are trying to solve for.

Homework due 10/15: Finish your worksheet

Friday, October 9, 2015

Class Notes 10/8

Today in class we covered the send of section 1.4. This part of the section introduces common formulas that will be used through out the year. And it also taught us how to rewrite the formulas to solve any variable that may be in the equation.

Homework for the weekend Due 10/13: pg. #29 12-36 (evens only)

Have a good weekend.

Today in class we did some work with word problems (keep practicing these as they will not go away). After our warm up we went over the quiz, which I was very pleased with the efforts by all the students in class. We then started section 1.4 which is working with equations with two or more variables and solving for one of those variables.

Homework due 10/8: pg. 29 # 5, 7, 9,  13-25 odd.

Class Notes Tuesday 9/15

Class started this morning with a routine warm-up that consisted of problems from section 1.1 and 1.2 which was assigned for homework. After the warm-ups had been completed we then went over the self tests that the students took last Thursday and I gave the class notes on what I thought could be worked on. After that we spent the rest of class covering new vocabulary from the first 2 sections of the book. These are important terms and the students will need to know these as me move on.

Homework due Thursday 9/17:
pg. 17 Mixed Review problems #69-89.

Day 2 (Sept 10)

Today we had a busy class. We did some warm up problems. The problems consisted of solving for a variable, simplifying radicals and finding the equation of a line with knowing the slope and a point on the line. After warm ups were completed we went over our summer packet work and the class did a great job overall. I was really proud of the work I saw. After that the class did a brief exercise to see where the group stands mathematically (I'll go through these this weekend and see where we stand).

We don't meet again until Tuesday Sept 15, so make sure you all are keeping up with the work and not putting things on the back burner until Monday night.

The homework for Tuesday is Summer Packet Corrections and then Read sections 1.1 and 1.2.

I hope you have a great weekend and I'll see you all on Tuesday.

1st Day of Class!

Welcome to Algebra II and Trigonometry. Today was a shortened class due to the opening assembly, but it was still a successful first class. Today we handed out text books, went over the syllabus, learned a little bit about each other and got a to play a nice little game of Hook/Line/Sinker to end the class. For Homework I have asked you to go over the syllabus with a parent and have both of you sign the syllabus and return it to me on Thursday 9/10 when we meet in class.

I hope everyone enjoyed the first day as much as I did.

Mr.Schroth
